Bentley's Geospatial Research and Technology Seminar

Bentley Systems, Incorporated (PA, USA) will host a day-long Geospatial Research and Technology Seminar adjacent to BE Conference 2005. The seminar is being organised by Dr. Dipl-Ing. Siyka Zlatanova and Dr. Marian de Vries, both of the Technical University of Delft, and the Bentley Education Network and will be at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland on Sunday 8 May 2005, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The theme will be 'Sustainable, High-Accuracy, Infrastructure Information Management and Interoperability: A Framework for Homeland Security'.

At this seminar, leading technical researchers from around the world will report on the latest developments and directions in geospatial technology for homeland security and disaster management.
Presentations will include (among others):


  • keynote: Mr. Hank Chase, director of Homeland Security Programs at ITS Corporation
  • keynote: Tsunami India Experiences: Dr. Shailesh Nayak, group director, Marine and Water Resources, Space Applications Centre (ISRO), India
  • Disaster Management Systems - Problems, Challenges: Dr. Siyka Zlatanova, Delft University of Technology, OTB Section GISt, The Netherlands
  • Web Service Standards, Interoperability, 3D: Thomas Kolbe, University of Bonn, Institute for Cartography and Geoinformation, Germany
  • 3D GIS in Support of Disaster Management: Dr. Jiyeong Lee, assistant professor of GISciences, Department of Geography and Earth Sciences, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, U.S.A.
