EuroSDR Meeting Geometric Interoperability 2005

The pan-European research platform EuroSDR (European Spatial Data Research) will host a forthcoming international conference on merging map data from different sources, especially the satellite-based GPS. The conference, “Achieving geometric interoperability of spatial data”, takes places 8-9 June 2005 in Munich (Germany). Sponsors are the Ordnance Survey, the Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland), the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), and the Bavarian State Surveying Agency (Germany). Delegates from European mapping agencies, and software and service providers will discuss issues involved in merging data along with users representing government, utilities and the private sector. The organisers recognise that while many agencies and data providers are facilitating compatibility with GPS-acquired data, there is a wide range of geospatial data held by users that remains unaltered. The conference will focus on improving the potential of these datasets through practical solutions to Positional Accuracy Improvement (PAI). It follows an EuroSDR event in Malahide, Ireland last year that was aimed at raising awareness of PAI throughout Europe and the United States.
