Pix4D Releases New Version of Pix4UAV

Pix4D, Switzerland, has announced the release of version 2.2 of its Pix4UAV desktop software. Pix4UAV is a software package that combines thousands of aerial images taken by lightweight flying platforms into professional and accurate 2D maps and 3D models.

With version 2.2, Pix4D introduces new filtering and smoothing options for point clouds. Pix4UAV chooses the optimal filtering and smoothing options, and usersd can also choose their own preferred level of both filtering and smoothing point clouds with a single click. This feature will allow output of point clouds that are filtered and smoothed while maintaining accurate results all the time.

Version 2.2 proposes new input setting with enhanced GCP editing. With this new feature, GCP management is easier and more complete. The GCP Editor proposes a quick overview and lets the user choose between GCPs for calibration or verification. The user also has the choice between 2D (XY) and 3D (XYZ) GCPs; it is possible to add the tolerance level of GPS measurements and select between global or local coordinate systems.

The new version enables users to select the output format of their 3D outputs, and now also includes .LAS. Version 2.2 includes extension to existing features like improved processing for faster results, a more detailed Quality Report, improved project merging possibilities and many other minor improvements.
